In the past, I have looked to a lot of other websites for inspiration, answers, and just general fun. And while I did have fun, a lot of the times I would begin doubting myself.
My motivation for creating my website is to document and 'publish' all material that I write so that I can spread my thoughts and share my point of view with other people. However, looking at most of the blogs and writings I see on other websites, they are of a much higher quality than mine, both in writing skill and in technical skill. This has always made me feel insecure; what if my writings aren't good enough? I'm not good at writing neither am I good in the technical department.
Is what I'm writing truly of any value?
Although these insecurities still exist within me, I have come to realize something very important.
It is far more important to have a voice than to be worried about whether it is any good at public speaking.
Maybe I'm not good enough to be one of 'the greats' (which is a social construct of sorts, anyway). That's alright. What I am will always be better than 'the greats'; I am me. It is far more important to be who you are than it is to be 'great'. For being yourself and voicing your opinion based on being yourself is of greater value than anything.
My writing skill and technical skill will change in the future. But if I forsake who I am, then I betray myself. I betray the purpose of this website. And I am anything but a traitor.
